Last Halloween Tom came to our church fair dressed as Captain Tornado.
I figured that the situation was just BEGGING for a cartoon.
So two days before Christmas I whipped this little caricature together for him.

I really just loved how this illustration turned out. Tom's face and the tornado are my two favorite features.
On Christmas morning I got to watch Tom open his gift from me, with Dorotha, my mother-in-law, at his side.
This is not the first time that I've illustrated Tom. I did one of him a couple of years ago and he made it into the background of the drawing I did of my mother-in-law posted on August 29.
One Year Anniversary!: On January 4th I will celebrate one year of blogging. Little did I know that while sitting on my livingroom couch a year ago and began this blog, that it would be the avenue of creating friendships all over the U.S.A., AND the globe.
I am going to have a simple give away. On January 1,2,3 & 4, if you post a comment, just a comment - no putting a link on your own blog, no telling 10 other people about this post, just adding a comment on one of those post during any one of those four days, then your name will be put in for my one year anniversary give-away. Then on January 5, I will be selecting two names: One for a FREE print of one of my illustrations - of your choice, and one for a FREE caricature.
My way of saying thank you for the fun.

My oldest sons 12th birthday is in February and I am thinking that I should get a caricature for his birthday with any luck I may win one lol.
It looks funny (to me) that you guys are all rugged up we are swimming here and sweltering. Mind you on christmas day it was the coldest christmas day here for 13 years.I think it was about 22 degrees which is about 70 for you guys
Great cartoon, you are so talented
I'm so glad someone has acknowledged how blogging creates friends all over the globe! Isn't it just! I'm fast on my way to having lovely Americans visiting, and showing them around town. *giddy* You know your drawings are accurate and fun without being sarcastic. Wonderful. I was always afraid of the street cartoonists because they'd draw monsters. Yours are heart lifting.
kisses!
What a great caricature! You captured his expression perfectly. I can see that Christmas gift was a hit.
Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment! :)
love Captain Tornado too cute! I will have to let Martha know about the drawing :-) shes put back money so when she knows what she wants she can email... She makes me laugh so much they have placed their drawings on the piano and refer to them as the GREAT CHASE LOL.

Hmm . . . what exactly are Captain Tornado's super powers? The ability to tear a house apart in 3.2 seconds? Makes food disappear in a whirlwind? Hmm . . .
I can see why your FIL loves that drawing. It's awesome! From what I've seen so far, I have loved all your drawings.
Your drawings are so fun and I love your photography too - especially the one of the road going through the trees. It looks a lot like the giant redwoods area in California (which I love).
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment!
Hi Rick,
So I guess you have been busy over the holidays!! My 5 year old loves drawing and has done some great pictures of us lately, maybe I have 'one of you' in the making??
Is your FIL the one in the bowling pic too?
great job.
I am glad you found me and I love visiting your blog and seeing your creations. Keep up the good work, I can't wait for the give-a-way!
Wow, these are so unbelievably good! What a great gift. My father-n-law is a walking caricature. This gives me good ideas for next year. I'll place my order early!
I have been overwhelmed with Christmas crazies at our house. I am behind. Your photos are beautiful. Captain Tornado is too cute.
