Life Is A Beach

Like Santa working over his list I'm am busy working my way through my list of request for Christmas.

Katie wanted an illustration which would include her good looking twin boys, and her parents. She pictured a Florida beach scene.

I decided that such good looking boys were probably fairly intelligent as well, so I pictured them creating a sizable sand castle. Wouldn't you agree? At first I had both Mom and Dad sitting in beach cars, but I knew that most likely grandma would be engaged in the operation. So, I erased my preliminary sketches and put grandma in the sand.

Here is the piece which is headed for a Christ- mas opening. One of the things that Katie said when she saw it is that her Dad had a shirt a lot like the one I created. I just figured that he would look good in black.

I'm still working. It's nearly midnight, and my doodling fingers need a break.

Merry Christmas Katie. Have a beachie Christmas.

After having just taken a fall on the very slick tiles at the bottom of our steps, a day at the beach looks wonderful. It's currently 21 degrees (F) so we're having a heat wave compared to the last 2 days.

Ah, I guess I'll just have to settle for looking at your doodle and dreamin'.

I love this doodle. The sun, castle and tree are super!! And of course you always do such a good job on the characters. Her parents will love this!!
BTW, I get SO many compliments on my doodle. A friend called me the other day to ask about it. I asked for a frame for Christmas for the one you sent me. I'll take a picture of it when I get it on the wall. :)

Just came by to visit via Outnumbered -- how talented you are! Your beach scene looks so inviting (especially compared to the mini ice storm we're having).

I love it Rick. Thanks SO much! I can't wait for my parents to open it up on christmas morning. They will just be getting back from a 10 day cruise to panama :)

I will post a link and picture on my blog after the holidays and probably new years (as you saw, I'm taking a break)

Thanks again :)

much love, Katie

Oh, LOVE it--that is a great illustration! What an awesome gift, Katie!

OK, this is small-world, but I know Katie from an ATL online mom's group, and I know who justabeachkat (see her comment above) is because I used to work with one of her family members. Small world!!
