Years ago I created this logo for my church. I wanted to try and capture the spirit of the beautiful Pacific coastline that we have here in Brookings. I was never quite happy with the concept I came up with.
Finally, for various reasons, it was time to try and create something new. Using this photo as my inspiration I ended up with the concept below.
I was just trying to reduce the image in the photo down to its basic geometric shapes. But, the only problem was that the wife and daughter didn't like. (Everyone is a critic.)
So, then I fiddle with the tree and came up with this one...
They liked the new tree (So did I—I hated to admit they were right) but the water and rock, in my opinion, needed some more detailing—plus my wife thought the rock looked like a boat or something.
So, that lead to this one...
Which lead to this one...
It's your turn to be an art critic. What do you think?

I like it, I really do ( I <3 all ur stuff) but since you asked.... I kind of think "Christmas" when I look at the tree ;-)
I love the logo! The rock also symbolizes the one solid rock.
Puuuuurfect!
I think it's absolutely beautiful, Rick! And just as an aside on the hint-o-Christmas thought - is that really a bad thing for a church? :)
i like it :)
Very cool -- I like the evolution of the concept!
