Celebrating One Year of Blogging

Great Big, Humongous, Gigantic, Give-Away: Today begins the four days of registration for my big give-away. Beginning today, and until the end of January 4, anyone that adds a comment on my blog will have their name placed in a hat for a chance to win one of two prizes. That's all you have to do. Just make a comment on this particular post and your name will be entered for a chance to win!!

Prize #1: A free print of any of my cartoons that I've posted on my blog this past year. (I will even pay for shipping.) Excluded as a possible choice are any of the caricatures that I've done for other people this past year. But! The winner gets to choose from any of my cartoons - color or black & white - that have been displayed on my blog this past year. Yours to cherish for a life time!

Prize #2: Perhaps the grand prize - A free caricature drawn by me. All the winner has to do is send me a photo, or two, of themeselves, or of whoever they may want me to illustrate. Then I will go to work and create the winner their very own Rick Green original illustration. The only stipulation is that the caricature can only be of one person - no groups illustrations for this prize.

Included with your comment you will need to provide information for me to contact you in case you are the winner. The normal link back to a personal blog would work just fine - or an e-mail address. Whatever it will take for me to make contact with you.

On January 5, I will put all the names in a hat and then two of my daughters will draw out one name each for each one of the prizes. Then I will announce the winners on my blog sometime on the 5th. Each person entering is allowed only one entry. Posting more than one comment will not give you more opportunities to win. My family members are not allowed to enter - you all generally get my services for free anyway.

Good luck and thank you for all the fun that I've had this past year.

Rick Green
Cartoonist for the Common Man & Wo-man

P.S. And for you art lovers out there...

Hi, I'll admit I came to your blog because I wanted to make a complaint about sending a spam comment to my blog davehingsburger.blogspot.com But once getting here and looking at your drawings and reading your posts, I found myself enjoying myself. So, I take back the complaint I was going to make and instead will wish you a happy 1st ... have you done many charicatrues of people with disabilities ...?

Happy New Year Rick! I hope 2008 brings you much joy and laughter.

Happy Blogiversary, too! Thank you for bringing a little joy and laughter into my life. :-)

I love this cartoon. It reminds me of the seagull scene in "Finding Nemo." Too funny! Way hard to find the egg man, too, but I persevered and he has been spotted. w00t!

Ooooh, oooh, pick me, pick me!

I love the seagulls. I went to San Francisco once and that very thing happened to me. I tried to get it on my camcorder but I goofed and wasn't able to show my daughter. It was too funny.

I had to come back and do this - I would just love to see what you would do with the tag line "Where chronic illness and childhood collide." since all three of my kids have a chronic illness that requires them to get frequent infusions. Like I said in the last post - I totally imagine something like my oldest riding his skate board with his IV pole attached... or my middle one riding a horse with the iv trailing behind... or the youngest, riding his bike with the IV pole on it!

Love the seagull drawing.
We were at sea World a few weeks ago, and there were signs near all of the restaurants warning against feeding the Seagulls. They went something like "Seagulls may become agressive. Do not leave food unattended, and do not leave small children alone with food"
Do you suppose the seagulls take the food FROM the small children, or do they think the children ARE the food?

I think Eggman is in on the sandwich takeover, sitting there looking all innocent, ha! I am totally onto him.

To answer your question, Etsy is a web site that promotes the sale of handmade items. Listings are .20 cents for 4 months and you automatically get a shop when you list an item. It's better than Ebay but, sadly, has less traffic which means less exposure. I like it though, the community is great.

Happy New Year Everyone! Actually, many years ago I knew a young man whose ice cream cone was attacked by two sea gulls in Orange County, California. They must be ancestors to Rick's birds in this painting/cartoon:0] Would anyone know if being pushy is a natural trait in sea gulls? Brrr. . . very cold here in ole Kentucky.

Hi! I saw your link over at JD's blog (I Do Things So You Don't Have To) and thought I'd come check out your blog.

Awesome cartoons... really. I've enjoyed the look-see and though this is my first comment, I still wish you a Happy Anniversary!

I've been lurking around your blog since you left a comment on my anniversary post over at my blog! :) I love your caricatures! My oldest son is an artist, so I have a special place in my heart for people who love to draw, and do it well!

So even if I don't win, I'll still keep coming back and lurking around. Maybe I'll even comment a time or two! :)

Ha I love when there is a prize being awarded you have nearly 200 comments, great job Rick your blog has really taken off from when I first met you. I'm not really commenting for the prize because of the other drawing you did for me and I think someone else should be able to enjoy your artwork as much as I do. Keep up the good work my fellow blogger and Hope your family is doing well.

Your work cracks me! I love it!

I had an idea for a great one (personal choice of course)... I chat with 12 ladies from all over the world every day! We became friends years ago online and have stayed such. Many of us have met at least one member of the gang, but we have never all been together at once. So my choice would be one of us all hanging over a large margarita glass with 12 straws - TOGETHER! Or even a really large bottle of wine and 12 wine glasses "cheering" each other! ;)
