A Preschooler's Idol

Stacey, Stacey, Stacey, you done got yourself all growed up!

This, as you might guess, is Stacey. We've know her for a long time -- from our Southern California days. We use to live in the same neighborhood. She hung out with our daughters, and even went to our church. Now Stacey is all married and has become a preschool teacher. Ain't she cute?

Stacey said that she wanted an illustration of herself singing, like in American Idol. Only she said that she's only brave enough to sing to her preschoolers. It was her suggestion that I add the Simon Cowell child. The dialogue was all mine. I think that I'm most proud of the "American Preschool" lettering. I did it free hand.

Also, this illustration has a lot of little things that are added, including you know who. See what you can find.

I had a lot of funny drawing this for you Stacey. Stay in touch and tell your hubby to take good care of you. You're practically family.

That's lovely! I love all the little ones sitting on the rug.

Do you usually use watercolor pencils to colour your work or just normal pencils? I love how you blended the colours in mine.

To Tismee2: Thanks Gail. Most often I use Prismacolor Pencils. Over here, they are available in just about any craft store, or you can purchase them on line at a number of sites. They're made for blending your colors.

I especially like the addition of a kid picking his nose! There is at least one in every preschool class!

The kid picking his nose is great! My littlest, The Jib, just discovered that she can stick her finger in her nose, so that's where it spends much of it's time now...LOL
Great picture!

I think this is by far my favorite of all your drawings I've seen to date. I love the Simon toddler. Too Funny. I bet Stacey's going to love this.

I don't watch American Idol, but the insert HAS GOT TO BE the little blond guy picking his nose.

There was a guy on "I Love New York" that did that on stage every time I turned on the show.

You are still excellent as always Rick.

Great one RickY. I think Stacy's initials are in the bookcase. I eggy singing standing under the nose picker. Dangerous spot to stand.

I absolutely LOVE it! I have always been a big fan of Rick's drawings and am very pleased to be featured in one. I think the children are adorable, I got a real hoot out of the nose-picker and the Simon child. I noticed my initials in the bookcase almost immediately and thought that was a nice little add-in. I really like how the fish in the fishbowl looks like a shark. If you look at the books stacked in the right corner of the bookshelf it says Have Fun - very appropriate for preschool. Thank you so much Rick for making me an American Idol (even if it is just in a drawing). Oh, and guess what I am watching right now! :)
