Making Hubby Happy

This is another request that came from "Down Under." Rosey put in an order for an illustration of her "DH". (I see those initials a lot on various blogs. It either stands for "Dear Husband", or "Dumb Hunk" - I'm not sure)

This is their family photo. Quite a crew! There's something to admire about a guy that has the courage to wear a "Mile High Club" t-shirt in a formal family photo. From the looks of things it would appear that they've been racking up several flight miles.

Rosey said that DH's dream car is a Porsche 930 and she wanted me to draw a caricature of him with one. There was some discussion as to whether or not it could be a convertible - as it would be easier for me to draw him IN it if the Porsche didn't have a top. She said that his favorite color is orange. I don't know if I've ever seen an orange Porsche, and that happens to be my LEAST favorite color, but (once again) I aim to please.

I thought the illustration warranted the inclusion of some "hot beach babe" waving at the Mile High Hunk while he drove by. So, I threw in a caricature of Rosey for free.

She said that this a Christmas gift! Talk about getting your shopping done early!! (How many shopping days are left before Christmas?) Actually, I had not realized that I was on such an broad timeline with this drawing or I might have pushed it back on my growing list of request. But hey!, it's done and she says that she's happy. I guess we'll have to wait a while before we find out if he likes it or not. I hope he doesn't get contacts, or join a cult and shave his head in the meantime.

Check out the family action at Roseys Madhouse, and cheer her on as she has begun a weight loss program.

Thanks for using me Rosey, and Merry Christmas to DH (Whatever that stands for.)

I cracked up when I read this - so I read it to my DH, who just stared at me with a blank look on his face (could it be I have a "dumb hunk"?) He said he didn't get it. I asked him if he knew what Mile High Club was, and he said he'd like to. I told him I wasn't asking if he'd like to JOIN the Mile High Club, just whether or not he knew what it was (which he obviously did by his "I'd like to" remark). Anyway, even though HE still didn't think it was funny, I sure got a laugh out of it!

I am laughing!! That man has to have a wife that loves him to wear that shirt out and about, let alone in a family picture! Yeah, mile high club, not so....uhm....well.... that is all I can say. And you crack me up with the "DH". I like Dumb Hunk. I was told it was Dearest Husband. But I think I like Dumb Hunck better! Great drawing.

In my world, the meaning of the initials "DH" depends upon my husband's behavior as of late :D

Growing up in Germany, I have seen an orange Porsche...let me tell you, it ain't pretty. I used to dream of having a Porsche, but if someone gave me one that was orange, I'd have to decline. I'd rather drive a Volkswagen! Love your drawings and visit often, first time commenting.

raflmao well let me tell you what happened .....
I had recently got that t-shirt for my "Dear Husband" and thought it would look good on him for his colouring in the photo ( he doesnt shop, and alot of his clothes are from somewhere in the eighties). Now I dont know how many of you have had a family photo taken with six children but let me tell you it is no walk in the park. Trying to get everyone organized and to sit still and not touch the million of props in the studio....I should have looked at the sgirt a bit better I think before we went to the photographers lol. But hey he doesnt even know what the shirt means lol.We were happy with the photo though and I am really happy with the drawing and cant wait for it to get here lol. I showed my eldest son the one from the email and he loves it.Thank you so much Rick I think eventually I will get one of the whole family doing their things lol.

Cute drawing!

There are, in fact, orange Porsches (that's por-shuh, a two syllable word!), I see tham at our track on Porsche Club days. They remind me a bit of those orange tootsie-roll pops.

I'm with Sandra, if someone gave me an orange one, I might have to decline...or paint it in a hurry!
