One for the Renaissance Crowd

This is an illustra- tion that I drew a couple of years back. I was trying to create an illustration for the Renaissance Festival crowd - hoping that I could sell a few copies. An interesting group of people, the Renaissance lot. Walking around in colored leotards, holding wooden swords, eating pygmy chicken with their fingers, and saying things like, "A Pox on thee. Thou art a scurvy knave!" (or "navel" - I forget)

As I have said before, everybody has to have their "thing." I guess that some guys just like having the wind blow up their suede tunics.

I've not posted this cartoon sooner because it's a photo that I took of it and I wasn't too happy with the way the picture came out. On top of that, I've just about edited the living daylights out of the thing; trying to make it look right.

But, here it is. What do you think?

And, for you egg hunters out there... He's in there - somewhere. Eggy is a bit hard to find in this one, but I did some editing on him in particular to make it a little easier to locate the critter.

I like it! I always thought the Renaissance types were a little odd, but oh well. I LOVE Medievil Times, so I guess I could sort of get into that kind of thing...LOL

Hi, Rick! Thanks for your comment on my blog. I recognized you from Dawn Meehan's blog, and I think your art of her and the kids is great.
I like the Renaissance pic, too. It reminds me of the Renaissance Fair they had in the Alabama town where I went to college. Like you said, it's an interesting crowd, especially when you mix in Southern accents.

Rick

Is eggy near the small rock on the right? This one is tough. I've even tried adjusting my screen brightness. If it isn't him I'll keep looking

Thanks
Kristine

To Kristine: On the right is right.

Love the drawing Rick. I'm part of that Renaissance crowd! I haven't missed our local Faire in nearly 15 or more years. My husband has gone out there in a kilt before, and I dress as a wench. It's a lot of fun. I was also part of the belly dancing troupe out there, and I got to perform when I was barely pregnant, it was a blast!! But I don't do that anymore. And more often than not when we go out there with friends we are dressed in shorts and t-shirts since it is soooo hot.

ok i think he is up on the ceiling of the cave right side, between the stalagmites but he is really hard to see kinda like in the other drawing we talked about i think its just harder to tell in the pics on the computer:-)
cause the darker areas are darker plus i am not computer savvy enough to brighten or what ever Kristine said LOL... egg hunt is ON!
grins Laura the easily amused!

That looks like the dungeon beneath Cinderella's castle in Disneyland Paris. There is a real dragon in there too! According to my 5 year old.

Looks like a lot of work went into that one.

addition to my last comment... What is this eggy thing ya'll are talking about? I looked in that general area but didn't see anything that looks like an egg, lol. Maybe I need new glasses:))

To Mabunny: The Egg-man is basically a tiny circle with arms and legs that I add to most of my drawings. Sometimes he's very easy to find - sometimes not. It's just something that I started doing a long time ago and my daughter (and now others) demands that I add him into all my illustrations. On occasions I forget to, and then I hear about it.

Laura ~Peach~ said...

Demands LOL... too funny Rick but you have to admit eggy is fun i wthink on all levels, you get to add him in and we get to seek and find LOL. someday... You and Mr eggy will be very famous guys :-)
I was wondering do you ever put him into your cartoon strips? maybe you should!

To Peach: So much talk about the egg-man on this particular post.

No, I've never put him in any of my cartoon strips.

And that would be nice if Eggy made me rich some day.

Don't worry, I won't forget you. (Sitting here trying to remember who it is that I'm writing this comment to.

OH YES! Laura!! I won't forget you and... umm... umm... and 'o What's-Her-Name.)

I have no idea what Eggy looks like, but I love the dragon and his one opened eye. Knight's a goner, dude.

I'm not sure that I know what Eggy looks like either- maybe you could post a pic of just him for us newbies. :)

thanks for the offer of a hint but I caved and checked out the comments. I try never to do that for fear someone may have posted but damn it, it was eating away at me. I hate not knowing something :). It's like playing Where's Waldo, only it should be called Elusive Eggy.
