Are You a Lonely Heart?

It's not a doodle, but I took this photo of our wind chime the other evening. To me it is symbolic of a love gone cold. For whatever reason, I figure that there are a few people that could use this photo to illustrate a point, or story they're are wanting to share. So... if you have a lonely heart and you want to tell the world about it, then...

Tressa's E-Love

Tressa wanted a drawing illustrating her relationship with a certain navy man.

She wrote and said, "I sort of thought it would be neat to somehow capture an illustration of us 'dating via email' - showing me back home and him on his Navy ship. I have a vision of maybe me typing away grinning while he leans back in his chair reading the email with his hands behind his head... wearing his Navy uniform of course. Let me know what you think."

I thought, "Sounds like a fun idea."

Here is the lucky guy - goes by the handle of Josh. And below is the illustration I drew of them. Good looking couple ain't they?

Last Sunday, Mr. Josh Navy came home after spending some time off the coast of Africa. The drawing was a welcome home gift - haven't heard what he thought. I'll assume that they've had better things to do than to keep in touch with me.

Thanks Tressa for inviting me to illustrate your personal love story. I had fun creating it for you.

By the way, What DID he think?

Two Countries, Two Hearts = One Family

Whenever I open my e-mail I never know what kind of request I may be getting. I've had a couple of different ones of late. This is one of them.

Chana wrote me and said, "I am adopting from Vietnam and am wanting my blog design to reflect this. This is what image I am wanting: 2 heart shaped flags - one of the USA, one of Vietnam. I'd like the flags to sort of overlap, with the Vietnam flag in the front. I'd then like twine (string, thread, whatever) to 'wrap' them together. From the twine I'd like 4 tags hanging from them. On each tag I'd like a different name ... Jordan, Mama, Emercyn, Arityn."

This was certainly different from the usual caricature request that I normally get, but it seemed simple enough.

I first sketched it out this drawing (during a meeting) and sent it to her.

Then, with her approval, I put together this illustrat- ion.

Now you know that I'm bragging when I share with what Chana wrote after seeing this drawing. She said, "I cannot even begin to tell you how impressed I am. I am in tears. This means so much to me." Did you read that? Tears! She said that she was "in tears!!" Now, mind you, this is not the first time that my work has made someone cry, but it wasn't because they were happy with what they saw it.

Thank you Chana for your kind words, and for trusting me with creating something that is obviously very important to you.

I haven't got a blog address for Chana's site yet. I think that it is still in the developmental stage. When I get an address I will be sure to put a link on my list of sites using my work so that you can see how she put the drawing to work.

Have a Healthy Heart

It's sad when a heart gets old. Don't let this happen to you. Take it out and run it through some romance.

Happy St. Valentine's Day!!

Also: Good things come in pairs. Shellie, over at Little But Loud , gave me an award, (My second one of late.) Once again, I feel honored to be so honored.

I always wonder who's the guy/gal that first started passing any of these little awards around. For all I know, it could have been some over-weight, middle-aged, unshaved guy, sitting at a computer, in his yellowed underwear, scratching his back-side that started it. I guess it's a good thing that I don't know who started this one, because, if I did, I might not feel so honored.

Thanks Shellie for giving me this award. By the name of your blog I'm figuring that it is safe to assume that you're not akin the afore mentioned gentleman. Let us not ask how close I came to describing the author of this blog.

P.S. Feel free to copy and share my little Valentine with your loved ones. I'm sure that they'll appreciate your sentiment.
