I finally did some work the other day on the first page of the children's book that I have a dream of someday publishing.
I may be getting the "cart before the horse." Perhaps I should write the story before illustrating it, but I've actually told the story so many times to groups of children that I have it pretty well figured out in my head.
The story is about Sully, a skunk, that is not happy being a skunk (Would you be?). Instead, Sully wants to be a rabbit, and the rabbits help him do it.
I've drawn this little fellow a hundred different ways. I am pretty pleased with this version. What do you think?

Love it, Rick! He certainly has character...
the skunk is great! he has personality :O). you know in your children's book you should include Eggy on each page or page spread - it will be a fun feature for the kids to go through the book looking for him. kind of like the old Where's Waldo idea - but better!
He does look displeased! Call a publisher!
He certainly has personality, that Sully.
I think it's a wonderful idea for you to do a childrens book. Even a series of them. You spin a good yarn and, well, you know what I think of your doodles... I think the book would be a smash

Sulky Sully! Yay!
I think Sully looks sullen. LOL!
I think you would do very well to write and illustrate a children's book!
We love Sully... I have thought about writing a children's novel as well. Tell me how it goes for you. and good luck.
