Doodle Spontaneity

I was in another long meeting yesterday, and if you follow my blog you know that means more "meeting doodles." Below are the results. I think the guy in coat turned out especially well. I never know what will come out once I put the pen to paper and start to doodle during a meeting. I kind of like the spontaneity that's involved—there's no erase option once you get started.

In other news: Our middle child gets married in Oklahoma on the 19th, but Our youngest (photo left) came home Monday evening with a ring on her finger. When it rains, it pours. That will essentially make three weddings within a three year time span for us. I think that we’re operating on wedding overload. At least all three have chosen very nice young men.

In other, other news: I'm down 37.5 lbs—just saying.

Gonna' Get You...

I keep posting these "meeting doodles."  I have other works to share, but posting and writing out the text for them is always more involved.  So, on a lazy Superbowl Sunday, I offer another tidbit to you.  It's much the same kind of stuff, only this one I took the time to color.

I'm not sure if, or where you can use this one.  It's a little "Halloweeny", but go ahead and Copy & Share If You Dare.  In the mean time—keep looking back over your shoulder.

Don't Bug Me

Some of my most productive doodle time happens during long boring meetings.  This last week was no exception.  I had to go to an all day meeting up in Salem (A 5 hour drive north of me), and while everybody else is sitting at a table trying to ask pertinent asks, there is Rick Green off to one side drawing his poor "whittle" fingers to the bone.

This particular doodle is a product of my creative expressions from that day.  I have a few more that I will post in time.

The thing that I like about my "Meeting Doodles" is that they are so unplanned.  I just start drawing and what comes out, comes out.  And, if you make any mistakes, you have to incorporate them some how into the illustration.  I really like how the guy on the left turned out.  I was feeling a bit sad about adding the second, long and lean fellow, on the right, but when I added the captions I felt that it all came together well.  But, as I often say, we're not talking about brain surgery here.  It's just a little fun—we're not creating the Mona Lisa.

I you haven't seen my free Valentine doodle yet be sure to scroll down for your chance to "copy and share"  something for your honey on Valentine.  AND!... Come back Wednesday for a doodle that I am looking forward to share with you.  (How's that for a teaser?)

Pull My Finger

Here is another result from a recent meeting that I was in. I debated about dividing these various characters up instead of posting them all at once, but I guess I'm either too busy, or too lazy. Maybe a little of both. For what may be obvious reasons I'm calling this fine piece of art: "Pull My Finger."

Copy and share if you dare.

I'm still working on caricatures all the time. They've been moving along much too slow for what I would like to do, but if you've ordered one from me, I haven't forgotten you, at least I don't think I've forgotten you. (If I had forgotten someone, how would I know if I've forgotten them?) Anyway, I think I've on target to get the art done for those of you who have deadlines.

Hang in there.

More Meeting Doodles

Another meeting - more doodles. I had to steal borrow a couple of pieces of paper off a friends yellow pad so that I could get some doodle time in.

Sorry - these are egg-less doodles. I guess I just lost my focus.

Serious Meeting Doodle

I've been posting so many caricatures lately. Here's something a little different. I drew this while I was in a meeting last week.

Image that scenario: I'm in a meeting with a group of us sitting around a table having a serious discussion. There's me in the middle, with my copy of the meeting's agenda flipped over, pen in hand, doodling away on the back.

I'm just not the serious meeting type.

There's no real explanation for this illustration. I just started doodling and this is what came out.

What do ya think?
