Family Practice - Battle Bob

My wife and I spent most of the day yesterday Christmas shopping. Only for us, a trip to the mall involves a 2 1/2 hours driving one way. It's an all day affair.

Yet again, I followed my wife around as we picked out various gift items for our girls. Alas, it's always the same thing. We rushed by all the COOL STUFF to get to the girlie items: shirts, beauty products, pants, coats, and a few ladies' unmentionables, etc. etc.

Since I am the father of three girls (And yes, I under biologically that I am responsible for that.) I NEVER got the chance, on Christmas morning, to sit on the floor with some boys while they try out their manly (huff, grunt, growl) toys.

This is the inspiration behind this particular cartoon panel.

I wish my girls would hurry up and give me a grandson to play with on Christmas morning. WHAT AM I SAYING!?! You take your time girls. I can wait.

P.S. For the record: I love my girls dearly and I wouldn't trade them for any boy in the world!!!

In sympathise with you there although I'm the only girl in the house (apart from Freya the dog.) Christmas morning usually consists of cars, lego, electronic games and of course socks, underpants and jumpers.
Thos year hubby wants a metal detector(!!)and maybe another watch to add to his other six or seven he hardly ever wears. The boys both want Pc/DS/xBox games.
None of them ever want to sniff my boxes of bath bombs or look at my jewellry. The only bit of interest shown is if I get a new phone or PDA gadget.
Maybe we should do a 'family swap' for Christmas Day?

Very funny Gail. A family swap? Maybe we could set up a whole system of family exchange - giving people a chance to pick and choose who they want to open gifts with on Christmas morning.

Yeah, I'd go for that. Anyone want a 44 year old female to join them opening presents somewhere like the Caribbean?? I's swap with someone who would like a damp miserable day in Northumberland England.

With a family of boys (and finally one girl later) Christmas morning seemed to be lego, lego and more lego!

The arrival of the daughter balanced it out somewhat.

Thanks for visiting my blog!

Our son has taken us on a mighty wild ride from the moment of conception on. Whoever said girls are harder than boys... they haven't met mine!

I find myself thinking about grandchildren from time to time... I just think that will be so much fun! Yet, like you, I want it to not be too soon.

LOL! I have a house of boys, so I understand what tismee2 is talking about. If you ever get the urge to buy some boy toys just send them my way. No, wait... we have ENOUGH!

First, thanks for visiting my depraved corner of the blogosphere yesterday. That was very cool.

Second, you drew that comic strip? You're very talented. Stop it! You're going to give me an inferiority complex.

Third, if you want a boy to open presents with, just give me a time and place. I still love toys. :)

To Dan: Yes, they were drawn by me. If you look back through my blog you'll see that this strip is my one and only attempt at creating a strip for syndication. I was turned down by all the best.

I once read a sign that said, "Heaven has a special bathroom for daddy's of girls." I thought that was funny. There should be a sign that says, "Heaven has a special air-freshener for little girls with daddy's."

To Scarlett: Very, very funny! I'll have to steal that one from you. Plagiarism is my middle name.

I'm glad you liked it and go ahead.

P.S. My middle name is "Copy Write Infringement" ;)

Very cute! I have a nice balance of two boys and three girls. I do so dread the "dark" isles of boy toys.

BTW, Thanks for visiting my blog! Your artwork is terrific! I've been a frequent visitor to the "Because I Said So" blog by Dawn. I recognized that cartoon right away!!

Ah yes...I'm the only girl in this home...surrounded by levels of testosterone that I never imagined possible. Can't I have one, just one hair bow? Maybe I'll give one to the oldest son this year...his hair is the longest (not long, by any means, but the longest) and I'd never make him wear it out in public.

Yeah, that'll happen. Totally kidding here.

I've got 2 boys - maybe we can work out a seasonal swap of sorts... I think I'd be happy to have a little bit of the girly stuff!!

Ah yes the 'dark aisles of boys toys'. How true, I avoid the 'pink' aisles as I know there is nothing I need there. Have you noticed that boys toys these days usually consist of action figures, action figures and action figures? My youngest has a whole drawer stack full of them, and sometimes paints them with red paint to make them even more gory.

I know what you mean.

I bought my 18-month old girl a Wii for Christmas last year.

The wife didn't find that too funny...

But the boy toys make the coolest noises. LOL. I have two boys and a baby girl and was looking forward to finally being able to buy girl toys.

Too bad she thinks that Ben10 tastes better...

Thanks for the giggles!

I'm sure my father can sympathize with you! He, too, is the only male in the fam!

Just wanted to thank you for coming by and entering my giveaway last week! I host a new giveaway every Monday so feel free to come back often! Thank you again!

I have 2 girls and 2 boys. But the boys are still really small. The comic strip is so funny.

This is our family in a nut shell. We have three daughters and a female cat! My poor husband. Like you, he loves the girls, but when the son-in-laws show up he is one happy camper!

Great cartoon!!!!

Ha ha ha. I have to laugh at this because I remember my husband bying our 3 year old son a full two sided battle scene set up. My son watched his father set it up for the first 3 minutes then ran off to play with his new tractor. My husband continued to play with my son's new toy for 3 hours.

Thanks for visiting my Blog. We have 5 boys and 4 girls, so there are legos and barbies here. Barbie shoes and small legos are very painful to step on barefooted. :)
